Christmas Tree Table Runner + Cut File

Hello everyone! Christmas is my favorite time of the year! I love the songs, the colors, the Christmas tree, the lights, even the smell. I love that everybody gets together to decorate, to cook, to spend some happy time… My mom loves table runners, so I made this one as a gift. This post was my guest post over at The NY Melrose Family a couple of weeks ago Yayyy how cool!!!

Christmas Tree Table Runner + Cut File

Christmas Tree Table Runner + Cut File

This cute table runner is not hard at all to make. If you don’t have a silhouette Cameo, you can use any kind of stencil.

You need:

  • 24 x 55 inches of fabric {60 x 140 cm}.
  • Fabric paint.
  • Gold Sharpie.
  • Green satin ribbon.
  • Snap buttons.

Fold the fabric in half on the short length.

I draw on both ends a triangle. I used as a reference 4 inches from edges.

I stopped there and started the painting. I made this cut file in Silhouette Studio and cut freezer paper. You can download the Cut File HERE

I placed the freezer paper over the fabric. I placed mine on the ends. Then iron it until is well stuck on the fabric.

Paint the tree and the star and let it dry for a couple of hours.

When is very dry peel the freezer paper off and there you have it! A cute Christmas tree!

In my case my stars failed because I couldn’t do what I thought with white and yellow paint =(. But I could fix it painting them with gold Sharpie.

Now lets sew.  Sew the fabric right sides together along the triangles and the opened long side leaving about 4-5 inches open.

Turn the table runner inside out and iron it to get rid of creases and to fold the edges on the opened space like this:

Sew the table runner all along the edges with a zig-zag stitch. Now you have the table runner almost ready.

Make 2 cute ribbon bows and make some stitches on the back of the bows to avoid ruining them with use.

Then sew the snap buttons. One part on the bow and the other on the end of the triangle and join them!

Tadaaaaaa. There you have it!!! A simple but super cute table runner!

What do you think??? How does it look on our table???
